7:05 AMTeej is a festival which is celebrated by nepali hindu womens throughout the country. Teej is a cultural, religious and social festival in which all married women visit their old parents hole. They celebrate it with their family members and friends. MArried women and unmarried women take a whole day fast. MArried women do it for the long life of their husband and unmarried women do it for a better husband in their future.
Now days women eat fruits and liquid in evening. They do it after they finish their worship in evening while some women live without any food and drops of water. They worship lord shiva on this festival. IT is also known as colorful festival because all women get fully decorated with red saris, ornaments and bangles. They gather in a temple and start their puja. Pashupati temple in kathmandu is highly visited in this day.
Teej puja takes place also at home. Some women do puja both at the temple and home. Besides its religious meaning, Teej is a cultural festival in which women dance and sing songs at home, temples and nearby public places.
